2023 - York Region

In fall 2023, the Dance Together Festival returned to York Region! Working in partnership with Assembly Park in Vaughan and Richmond Hill Public Library, the festival offered a total of four days of free dance programming during Ontario Culture Days and winning Best in Person Program Spotlight Recognition Award!

During the festival opening weekend at Assembly Park Studios, September 29-October 1, 2023, community members were invited to take a free dance workshop and watch open rehearsals with local professional dance artists. There were eight open studio sessions (Contemporary Dance, Popping, Krump and Stilt Dancing) and five community dance workshops (Afro-Caribbean, Hip-Hop, Partner Dance, Swing and Cuban Fusion). Festival closing took place on the last day of Culture Days at the Richmond Hill Public Library (Central Branch) on October 15th,  featuring four more community dance workshops (Family Dance Party, Bollywood, Merengue and French Folk Dance). A total of 30 dance artists were involved in the event and about 170 community participants! Browse the full event listing here.

All workshops and events were free for participants, thanks to the generous support of the Richmond Hill Community and Cultural Grant Program. Presented in partnership with the Dance Together Project, Assembly Park, KasheDance, dance Immersion, York Region Arts Council, City of Vaughan, City of Richmond Hill and Richmond Hill Public Library.
