Now an integral part of our annual festival, our large scale dance floor murals actually began during the pandemic. In 2020, dancing together looked a little different because of restrictions on public gatherings and social distancing, so we created the “Dance On Map” - our first dance floor mural in Mimico Square!

That year, dancers and muralists collaborated to transform the “square” into a vibrant open air dance space inspired by House, Hip Hop, Whacking, Afro-Cuban, Waltz, Jazz and Swing. Since then, we have worked in collaboration with visual artists to design and create a new mural every year and the neighbourhood helps us paint it!

Thanks to the support of Arts in the Parks and our community partners Lakeshore Arts and Mimico by the Lake BIA, we have brought so much colour, movement and community to our favourite park. Click on the images for each year below to see how we have transformed the space together over the years!
